Noosa Nationalpark Hike

Noosa is known for its beautiful Nationalpark and the amazing bays and hikes that can be done. A couple of weeks ago my friend and went to the Nationalpark starting from sunshine beach an finishing at main beach!

Sunshine beach has a stair pathway that leads into the National Park, but there is also a smaller trail that you can climb up and that leads to one of the beautiful fairy pools. These fairy pools are hidden during high tide, but low tide shows them just perfectly an people are able to swim in them and take photos. During low tide it is also possible to climb from these pools over a rock to the next little bay, which is a very secretive but good bay for surfing or just relaxing.

After this bay it’ll lead you further to another popular cliff jump and surf sport called hells gates and further on through either bush land shortcuts or a path along the edge with a clear view of the beautiful turquoise water!

After this a very famous surf bay which is also a nude beach called Alexandria Bay or just A- Bay stretches along for about a kilometer and leads further into the Nationalpark to other fairy pools that you can climb down to. Of course there are always lots of tourists taking pictures and jumping into them but if you go either early in the morning or arvo there will be less people.

After these fairy pools several surfing bays, like Granite, Tea Tree and Little Cove build the end part of the National Park to main beach.

My friend and I walked from about 11:30 am until 4 pm so basically the whole day but it is also possible to do it faster if you don’t go swimming that often or don’t take too long to take pictures 🙂

I would definitely recommend a walk or hike through Nationalpark as it is not only a whole day activity but also a very productive way to spend time in the nature, discover Noosa’s hidden beauty and enjoy time in the sun!

Heron Island

On Wednesday, 9th of May, our heron trip met at the school at 4:30 am to drive 5 hours down to Gladstone and than take a 2 hour ferry to Heron Island.

When we arrived we were greeted by a beautiful island full of crystal blue water and the most amazing nature. Heron Island is a very small island that you can walk around in 30 minutes!

Our school stayed in cabins with 8 beds each in it so we were a big group in one room but that was not a problem because we were only in our cabins to sleep.

After our arrival we had dinner and then we had a night walk along Windward side up to to the north beach which is the rather windy side of the island. The next day we started with a 5:30 am morning snorkel, then we had breakfast, a meeting and then we started to collect our data for our science assignment. The whole reason for the trip was because of our EEI which is a very important part of our science mark for graduation. My group was surveying sea cucumbers so every morning from around 11am-2pm we collected our data on the reef flat and spend a lot of time in the ocean and sun.

After we had lunch we went on a boat snorkel, everyday a different one and had the most amazing encounters with reef sharks, huge turtles and even an octopus that tried to grab my teachers’ go pro. After that we usually all met up in front our cabins and played card games or went to the jetty until it was time to eat or go for another snorkel…

One day our teachers decided it would be fun to do a night snorkel so all of us put on our wetsuits, took big torches and snorkeled through the dark. It was one of the most exciting things from the trip, but sadly we got stung a lot by stingers and jelly fish:(

Everyday we did a sunset swim so we watched the sun go down in between the two halves of the wreck and just stayed in the water with everyone!

We took some amazing footage of the sea animals and learned so much information about the island and it’s animals….

Sadly after 4 days, we had to leave the beautiful Island on which we by the way had no service which was amazing, and go back to Noosa. No one wanted to leave this miracle of an island but we eventually had to….

So we took the ferry back to Gladstone and drove 5 hours into the night back to Noosa!

If you’re thinking about going to Heron, trust me it is 101% worth it and the best thing you can do!!

Little Update

The swell in Noosa has been good again and this was the sign for an upcoming storm…

On Saturday I went surfing for 4 hours and just enjoyed the beautiful water and weather. Nearing the end of my session, the sky turned grey but that was fine because surfing in the rain is the most beautiful thing!

On Sunday the surf was not that good because it was very small so we did a bit of long boarding and just enjoyed the day before it started to storm…

Sadly today, which is Labor Day, it is pouring rain non-stop and very very cold 🙁

But that’s fine as long as it’s going to clear up again!

Be ready for a new blog post about our school trip to Heron Island next week :))

Boat Day

Noosa is a perfect place to take your boat out and this is exactly what my friends and I spontaneously did the other day.

The only place to go out on the water with a boat is the official boat ramp at the river so we started at the river and drove up the river mouth into the open ocean. I saw Noosa, the beach and the groin from the other side and then we went to the National Park so to the popular surf spot Tea Tree and Granite Bay.

The surf was not very good that day and that is why we could take the boat out in the first place, but there were still a lot of waves trying to catch some of the decent waves….

We tried out the drone too and just swam around in the bays!

Afterwards my friend showed me his little, cute puppies that they recently got…

Melbourne Trip

My term break started great! After I had my friend from Brisbane over, I flew to Melbourne for 4 days to stay with some family friends.

This friend actually did a gap year, too in Hamburg for 2 months and this is how I met her. They stay in a beautiful house in St Kilda and their family consists out of a Mum, dad, two daughters Emily (my friend) and Amy and their cute god Archie. Their mum is originally German but she moved to Australia many years ago, so that she can speak german fluently and Emily and her dad can speak pretty good too.

Melbourne is a beautiful place to live and therefore visit. We decided to walk a lot around town and just find these amazing alleys with graffiti and other street art work on there. It was really amazing and just breathtaking pieces of art.

I was lucky enough to have good weather for some days when I was there so that we could go to the beach and just have a walk around their pretty neighborhood.

One day we decided that we should go into a museum that had over 200 different artist’s works displayed and it was truly amazing! They had all kinds of different rooms, some simple ones with just lights, about 100 different chair ideas, painting and drawings but there were also more complex ones like the flower room full of flowers and a room that had the art work displayed when you were lying down.

After that we went to a popular rooftop bar and had some delicious (non-alcoholic) cocktails and just enjoyed the evening!

Sadly my days in Melbourne were over way too fast and I had to catch a plane back to Noosa 🙁
